Team:
The components test team is responsible for development and acceptance testing of engine and vehicle components in Long Beach, CA. We leverage our technical skills and collaborative engineering approach to support flight hardware testing and asset development. We design, build, and operate all test assets from initial concept to test execution. What you’ll do:
As a Lead Components/Fluids Test Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers to design, analyze, and operate hydrostatic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic systems to support the development and manufacturing of Terran R. You will champion component development testing and own the strategy to transition testing to support scaled production. You will work in close partnership with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians to execute spaceflight qualification and acceptance test campaigns.
Task Examples:
- Design test systems including mechanical, fluid, and electrical components
- Commission new test assets and systems
- Plan, create, modify, and optimize test sequences, procedures, and operational processes to support first-article development to high-volume production
- Identify and implement new test and tooling solutions
- Develop and upgrade work center layout
- Plan asset capacity and strategy
- Training, mentorship, and team development planning
What you need to know:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience designing, building, and commissioning complex fluid systems.
- Prior aerospace experience NOT required
- Strong engineering fundamentals in fluids, thermal, mechanical
Nice to haves but not required:
- 1+ years of direct management experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience with test automation
- Experience operating cryogenic fluids
- Familiarity with rocket engine components
- Familiarity with data/control systems
- Experience transitioning from development setting into high-volume production
- Experience planning and executing capital equipment upgrades and optimization
